Default Odd network issue

Trying to use my wired connection it fails, can't go online at all.
Yet using wifi all is well and working.

When i run a test on either connection it says it's failed pinging the primary gateway.

So guess what im asking is what is going on?

Is my cable up the duff, and the tests are picking this up?

Just a thought, as I've done it a few times myself, but have you a static IP on the wired connection that's not on your local subnet?

yes most common cause, the wired connection may have a static IP address, proxy server settings added or the incorrect DNS entries which are not on the WIFI adaptor.

Aah I did recently activate some smart dns feature not long ago.
So this has gone in and buggered things.

Right best way of sorting this i wonder........

So what ip doohickey needs to be thrown into my router?

I'm not a noob, but never really dabbled deep into fiddling with networks.

Right fired up the dns program, all works like it should once it's turned on, so somewhere it's fiddled with my routing table.
