Question

I already ask in where if this Subaru problem could be related whit the diferent length of the headers and if we fit a equal length header this sould be fixed.

Your answer (and I thank for it) told me that this problem sould not be related whit this (headers).

Some very professional mens (I think the best) told me that this problem is related whit a bad cooling in Subaru block in this point so............it could not be fixed!!

But I read this in a internet page of a tuner:

"The EJ20 Subaru engine is infamous for leaning out CYL. # 3. The stock fuel rails and lines allow more fuel and pressure to be distributed to the other cylinders. When WRX owners begin upgrading the engine and adding more boost and more power (specialy over the 300hp) to this the problem gets even worse. This Kit solves those problems. By redirecting fuel to both banks of cylinders as well as the regulator, even fuel distribution is guaranteed. Kit includes billet aluminum rails with stainless lines and fittings. This part is designed for use in all WRX'S. However, aftermarket electronics are strongly encouraged.

I would like to ear your opinion :-)

Regards

what you are talking about is a parallel feed to the fuel rails.

This is a great idea and any easy mod to do.

I know of several who have done it, and there is no question that it is worth doing.

Dont know that it solves the leaning running of number 3 specifically, but it cant hurt.

Custom smooth fuel rails would be a good idea at the same time!

Depending on the level of tune ...
No 3 doesn't run "lean" though ... on Phase one engines no 2 does, no 4 runs rich and 1 and 3 are similar to each other, on phase 2's there is not alot of difference.

So you think this is not true.........right?
I do not understand what you tell about phases???
Are you talking about Power Engineering/EcuteK Phase 1 or 2????

Thank you.

The Phase 1 and 2 he refers to , is basically a Pre MY99 engine is Phase 1, while an engine after MY00 is Phase 2
Absolutely nothing to do with PE or Ecutek

mine MY95 no 2 went after a high speed, I've been told that there was not enough cooling and that bigger oil radiator would protect it from happening....

It is very true that the oil in scoobs doesnt really cool down enough. Its always worth having an oil temp guage to monitor this as well as a oil pressure guage. This fault is very obvious and in Subarus special edition cars such as the S202 and S201 which run 300 and 320 bhp respectively, a big oil cooler is fitted. I think this shows that Subaru are aware of the problem thus using the kit when running over 300bhp. In a lot of cases that i have seen, people fit the FMIC, induction, ecu etc etc but forget about the oil coooler. WHen mods like the ones i just mentioned are carried out cars run on 320 - 350bhp. Sureley this kind of power (when in use, has a big effect on the oil temp and how hot the internals run.

recently told by a rally team building my engines that optimum oil temp in wrc cars is actually around the 120 mark, and that I should not worry about seeing these kind of figures at all.

Saying that am still fitting a large oil cooler in my car.

I still think it's a pressure thang. I've noticed that the pressure can drop quite a bit on occassions - just trundling from traffic, putting the clutch down suddenly can drop the pressure from 5-6 bar down to 2.7ish (what I'd consider 'right') but sometimes 1.5 - which I imagine is waytt too low. It only goes there for an instant, and it's quite rare it does it, and I still haven't figured out why it does it sometimes & not others... but if this was after a high-speed run, I can't imagine it being very healthy!
