Red face

Hi
I have posted on this theme befor but still can not solve the problem.
Legacy 2L '94 4WD - intermittent 'check engine light' - code 32 read and O2 sensor changed for a subaru part. I cleared the ECU but the problem still occures. The light comes on, at random, at steady speed eg 50+. If I 'load' the engine e.g by accelerating up hill it will always go out. It goes out on its own after a varying amount of time anyway! It will not do it with the car stationaly so I have not been able to put a scope on it. Yes- it only shows code 32 and I have remade the connection a number of times to clean the contacts.
It is beginning to drive me mad.
Please help if you can.
PS the fuel consumption is fine.
Thanks Dick

I would say you need to check the output from the sensor with a multi-meter. At idle it should be pulsing.

Cool

Thanks for the replies.
I will clean the airflow sensor- what is the best thing to clean it with?
What do you mean by earthing? The engine cranks fine so the engin to body earth should be good. Is it worth earthing the exaust to the body?

Take look at this site:

http://www.lumine.net/subaru/legacyb4/index.html

Look under mods then DIY or earthing (can't remember the exact layout).

Earthing does more on some cars than others, but older cars can particularly benefit. Anyway, you don't have to do, but it may help a bit (incremental - it's not a fix all - usually ).

Cheers
