Ok peeps, got my scoobysport downpipe and mid-section through on monday

I'd appreciate it someone could give me the phone number for Star or Falkland in Glenrothes as I intend using one of those for fitting the downpipe. Any other recommendations appreciated.

It'll probably be a few weeks yet till I get the time to do it. Should I entrust the simple task of fitting the mid-section to kwick-fit or similar in the meantime or is that something they would likely **** up?

Mid section you can do youself provided the bolts aren't rusty.

Mine required torching and I got a fitting centre to do it for £20, well worth it.

DP fitting can be a pain if you haven't ripped apart a few times already.

DP requires removal of, cutting of, and refitting of heat shield or the DP won't go on.

I'll find a way to **** it up if I do it myself. I'll get an exhaust firm to fit the centre section and leave the dp to the pro's.

Anyone got the requested numbers?

Wink

Do an Internet search or use Yell.co.uk to find the numbers ya lazy git

The downpipe can be a right barsteward to do. It'll either go as sweet as or you'll spend hours at it. You have to remove the Intercooler, then the existing heatshield. Getting the bolts off the Turbo is where you'll come a croper. You've got little room to manouvre a spanner and you need the car up on some decent high ramps to get underneath the car proper. You could stick it up on a couple of trolley jacks (as I've witnessed), but you're putting your life at risk doing anything stupid like that.

If you're a competent mechanic and have all the right tools, be my guest. But if your like me and have no experience with these then don't even bother.

All these folk that say it's a piece of pi$$ are either very good or lying.

If you want a good garage to look after it, then I'd recommend B Swift in Whitburn (01501 741548). They did a good job on my Scoob last week and won't charge you an arm and a leg.

Stefan

P.S. AF Noble did both my DP and centre FWIW.
