Sorry .. 2 simple downpipe questions

I'm looking at putting on a Scoobysport downpipe. I have an MY00 (classic shape) wagon with Scoobysport backbox.
I spoke to my dealer yesterday about fitting said item and he said that he would fit it but strongly recommended I didn't. He seems to think that the increased gas flow MAY trigger the check engine light (50/50 he said ).
I know that this is the true for the bugeyed model but I didn't think that this Was the case for a 'classic' shape?
Can somebody confirm this?
Also, I know it's subjective but what about noise increase, I have a reasonable amount of soundproofing in the boot. I would only say my wagon becomes boomy after a long motorway run.
I don't mind hearing more Turbo whistle and spool up etc but don't really want that much more boom. Can somebody eloquent take a stab at describing the noise increase
Thanks and sorry it's another downpipe question.

I have a MY00 with SS downpipe and SS backbox with magnex centre. I have had this on 3 different cars mow over space of 3 1/2 years and never had the CEL come on.
Noise wise, you will notice a difference from standard whilst under acceleration. Whilst cruising at say 70/80mph you dont really hear the exhaust. There is a difference in noise levels between saloon and wagon, wagon being a bit louder in the cabin.
I would do it because you will love the noise.

I have a MY99 and have recently fitted a SS BB, then a week later the SS DP. Noise levels didn't increase enough to notice when fitting the DP but you do get the turbo whistle as you say (mmmm very nice), and boy does it pull from 4000rpm.
I certainly haven't seen the engine light.
Hope this helps.

I have a scoobysport downpipe mate and a prodrive WRsport bb. Centre section i left untouched and mine sounds very very sweet. The check engine light has never ever come on and i dont think changing the downpipe would make much difference to the working of the engine. Just increased gas flow is all it does. Performance of the car was much much better after fitting although mine was blowing for a while as i didnt have the correct gaskets. The turbo is noticably louder and a spool up is a nice sound along with the boxer beat

Chris, your light is broken, should have seen it when the ignition is on and before engine has started
Downpipe, go for it. Went in a car with one on and have decided that I have to get mine asap
