Refitted airbox so my car sounds boring again. Thinking a HKS SS will make the most 'interesting'(max power) noise, and found one secondhand. It was fitted to a MY99, will the same unit fit a 22b? I know Forge et al are different parts due to phase1 vs phase2 changes - but is the HKS universal?

Don't do it Chuck!

What exactly is the difference between the HKS and a normal DV? And whats the diff between a BOV and DV? I may yet be tempted...

Confused.

Well, performance wise I don't believe there is anything in it. I ran a Forge Recirc for 5k miles, sprung to get a nice *chatter* when dumping boost - but only audible if you have an induction kit(fitted exclusively for the chatter, OEM DV was doing just fine on it's own).
Now I'm running a Forge VTA (vent to atmosphere) and can hear the noise again, but it's a bit tame @ chuck
HKS makes funny 'Fast and the Furious'-esque sqeaks.
BOV = DV
Standard = recirc
noisy = VTA = vent to atmosphere

Don't know about the Forge one, but the HKS one makes a big imrovement gear-change/driving-flow wise.
I don't like the noise, but I keep the HKS BOV on because when I replaced it with the standard one, it felt like the car hit a deep puddle every time I changed gear. And then, wait.. wait.. wait... ah! there's the boost again! at every change wasn't great either.

U R so sad mate.

P.S. The Bailey DV26 makes loads more noise than the Forge VTA...so I've heard...

HKS jobbie is noisy, maybe a bit too much for everyday driving, but you can get it to scream if you are pushing on a bit, they even have different vanes now so you can chnage to noise
