The clutch on my 93 Legacy Turbo has given up the ghost on my way home, anyone recommend an alternative to the std unit, I do 15k a year so I don't think I could be doing with a paddle one. But I do want something a bit more durable than the standard one.

I'd like to know this too. Does anybody know where I can get a sports clutch kit (Not AP) for an MY93 WRX?

Just out of interest, what's wrong with the AP?

crispyduk,
you can get the AP as an organic clutch. uses the same cover as the paddle, only with a full disc plate, so is smooth as a standard clutch.
both paddle and organic have the same ratings 350bhp..310 lb/ft.

i have had the organic one for about 8/9k now, and run 25psi/1.7bar boost along with other mods.....never slipped once, and perfectly smooth to use.

the kit is £360, but you dont get a release bearing, so £91 from dealer.

cheers,ian.

yeh another on that note, I take it all above prices are for parts only? So would I be right in assuming approximately £200 fitting then?

p.s. I think an OEM Clutch kit from Graham Goode comes in at around 200 smackers not fitted. Can't remember if this included VAT.

Cool

Don't want another standard one, as the one that has just disintegrated did less than 45k. Which I feel is diabolical when my XR4x4 had its first clutch at 115k, and that spends most off its life either being caned, towing rally cars on trailers, or being caned towing Rally Cars on trailers

With Plum Sauce did you get a price for AP fitted then inc. bearing? I'm in the market for a new clutch soon I think as well. Out of interest my 93WRX is still on it's first clutch and is coming up to 90,000 miles but admittedly I don't do many 'dial up 5K and drop the clutch' take-offs because most of the time I don't have to cos scoobies are 'kin quick anyway, and if I did, whatever was trying to race me ends up so far behind I think I shouldn't have wasted my petrol and clutch on him/her. But, it has to be done now and again IMHO cos full take-off in a scoob is simply brilliant, but even with the occasional blasts it's lasted this long and still has more in it :>
