Default Brake shoe adjustment

Hi,

ive bought some new rear brake discs and pads, but the discs I’ve bought have no grommet hole so I can adjust the cog with the discs on the hubs. What can I do to solve this ?, as it’s proving to be a bit of nightmare knowing where the disc is sitting without the disc actually being on the hub

Hiya, the adjuster should be on the rear, a grommet needs to be removed to gain access.

I had a look on the back mate but the dust shield is in the way and I didn’t see one because the cog is round the front, and looking from the front I wouldn’t be able to get a screwdriver through the back either

The rubber grommet is about an inch long on the rear of the hub. It's really easy to do if the car is on a lift and a proper pain if on stands and you are lying on your back....

I’ve just had a look and I don’t have a hole behind the hub because the dust shield is their. Mines a 2008 so I don’t know if that makes a difference or not as I did an sti conversion on my wrx because I hated the standard brakes on it

I spoke to the guy about what discs I needed and he told me these, as the 2008 sti ones they sell are a different pcd. I ordered them also because on the site the discs have a rubber grommet on the front in the pics. Everything is fine with the discs except for having no grommet.

A similar situation with the rear Alcon brake upgrade - no hole for handbrake adjustment MY08>.
Made my own hole and fitted a blanking grommet (top)

plus a balancing dimple opposite (bottom).

If anyone else tries to fit the same

Matt has bought discs on our site for the 2001 to 2004 STi , we never spoke to him so couldn't advise , but as he's fitting them on a Hatch WRX , they are the wrong discs , they have the wrong offset and will hit the backplate.
Anyone doing a Hatch rear Brembo conversion on a WRX hatch , it's all simple and fits straight on without the need of a bracket , but the STi discs need drilling to include a PCD of 5 x 100 , as the WRX hatch is 5 x 100 , and the STi hatch is 5 x 114,3 , apart from that , the calipers bolt straight onto the hub , and the handbrake is the same size of 190mm.
And yes the hatch discs have the adjustment for the handbrake on the front of the discs , only took Subaru 15 years figure this one out

Anyway , Matt is sending those back , and we are swapping them for the correct ones he needs

Cheers Ian
