Stage 2 Competition Clutch - experiences?
Not a common choice from what I can tell. But it is the one I am leaning towards. Clutch had a little slip last night, so I am getting it sorted early. Thanks to Apostle for his insights to date.
Other usual suspects (six speed, 425 bhp, 2.1):
Exedy pink (recommended by a supplier on here)
ACT (AS performance looking into sourcing one)
AP organic
Just had a Helix organic. Not a fan to be honest, quite glad it's bit the dust, but I was expecting a longer life span than just under 2 years.
But the CC unit looks like a good bet. Any views? I do not want another truculent clutch, as once it's in you're stuck with it.

I have an API-supplied/fitted C.C. Stage 2 on my STi 5, running a TD05H 20g @ 384/349.
No issues whatsoever. Behaves just like OEM AFAIC. And this is with an API-lightened (7.5kg) OEM flywheel to boot (fitted at the same time).
No slipping or recalcitrance; handles the torque just fine. Good test for this is foot down in 5th on the motorway - no issues. Engine simply picks up and rips through the revs in a very clean and satisfying fashion. No muss, no fuss.
Been on the car for at least 2yrs/8000m now, and feels/behaves the same as it did when new.
I DO NOT do trackdays or ever dump the clutch, though. Just the occasional fast road blat, now and again.

Then it wasn't fitted properly because mine was faultless and its fair to say I've had a few in the various imprezas I've owned.
I broke the centre out of a brand new AP racing clutch once. I needed to get back on the road quickly and managed to get a 2nd hand Exedy friction plate from the scappers for £40 quid. It was a quick fix that lasted 2 years and 30,000 miles.

I'm struggling to justify the pink box due the claimed recommended figures I've read. Clinic has tested one to 420bhp, as per website. Others suggest it designed to cope with less. I like to give it beans on the road and I don't want to be worrying about the clutch. But it is the cheapest of all options. I had a 5 speed pink earlier and it certainly performed nicely.

Have to agree with daz , pink box for me fitted by Thwaites ( hawkeye ) running 470 of torques with no issue

You appear to be more expensive for the same product. Thought I would save pennies shopping around. Had a look on the website though as it came top of the search engine listings. On first look I thought yours was a good deal until I realised there was VAT to add on.

There are lots of stories of the earlier versions of the pink box Exedy juddering & I had one do it a few years ago, I put up with it until the next time my engine was out then went for an AP which RCM recommended to me. I've had the AP for a couple of years now at 460 BHP & it's been faultless. I think Exedy have sorted the issue now but if you do buy one get it from a reputable supplier even if it costs more as I've heard of the old juddering ones being sold cheap on EBay.

All run in (700 + miles) and the pedal still feels good. It really makes you appreicate that the clutch really is such an important interface. I used to dread longer journeys with the Helix. Motorway jams would leave me with a very sore leg. Not any more. Competition clutch - great value and good performance for my state of tune.

Be careful if you ever launch it thats for sure.....!
I have seen one do less than 2k before destroying its self....

I suspect you could say that for a number of clutches. As for launching, that is a rare occasion as I don't like breaking things on my car. If I wanted to go down that route I'd have gone for an ACT or similar.
I'll pop back and report down the line if any issues occur - always looking to give fair reviews. Interesting that so many tuners seem to fit this clutch to their cars from the shop post-tune, Enginetuner being one. I wonder why they would stock and sell such fundamentally flawed clutches as you suggest?
