My impreza is giving me problems. Burst pipe, ac issues, suspension issues but the main one now is the gearbox.

4th gear synchro is on its way out (anything over 4krpm it doesn't like). I had the clutch changed, along with the fluid, and it made a difference but didn't fix the issue. I can't find the threads at the moment but I remember seeing that the synchro are weak and should be upgraded when rebuilt. Is the only bit that should be done or is there anything else while I'm there.

Problem is I'm in spain and imprezas don't seem very popular here. I have found some good mechanics who know gearbox people but need advice on the parts plus delivery - they would otherwise rebuild it with standard parts.

Its the carbon syncros I think. ICP Import Car Parts) should sell them

What oil did you put back in.

Without actually checking but it was what subaru recommended via the computer program they use.

Before paying for a rebuild, try a mix of 50/50 75W90 e.g. Motul 300, and two quarts of Redline Shockproof Lightweight oil. This masks the synchro damage by slowing down the synchros and may buy you some time.
