the length of the splitter in the exhaust collator when swapping turbo

On the MRT side they tell you that you have to adjust the length of the splitter in the exhaust collator when swapping turbo from the VF series to TD04 and visa versa but I assume this is only if you are using a standard down pipe and not an aftermarket HKS or an Scoobydown pipe or do I get it wrong

Richard is spot on. The standard downpipe doesn't have a splitter, so you wouldn't need to alter it. However, I assume that you've already got a replacement downpipe (no point in swapping the turbo and leaving the restrictive OEM cat in place) so it depends what type you have.

It's only if you're using a twin-dump designed d/p - the logic is that the wastegate actually releases gases sideways into the exhaust flow when it cracks open, so the only way to get full benefit from such a design (it's supposed to stop the wastegate exhaust interupting flow to main outlet) is to have the separator plate almost touching the turbo outlet housing (it's recessed by a few mm...but as stated, different between turbo's).
MRT's twin-dumps cater for this. HKS d/p blanks off the wastegate similar to OE and SS item just has a nice, big, fat hole As ever, biggest gain from changing the d/p is removing the cat....imho.

Edited to add: thanks for the info. Ric!
