gearbox bearing??
hi all, new here so firstly i would just like to say hello and thanks for reading
i have owned my car for 3 days now ( wrx 2002 bugeye) . first day it was fine on the drive home from manchester to newcastle, second day i noticed (also the gf..mehh) a noise coming from the engine/gearbox. popped the bonnet and no noise, revved it and no noise but as soon as was driving i noticed the noise again..3rd day the noise is getting worse so called out a mobile mechanic and he reckons it could b the gearbox thrust bearing??? Im not that clued up on car mechanics but he didn't seem to want to give me a price...any ideas? or even any other help would b appreciated
cheers

Hang on pal, you bought it from a trader so he has to sort it.
Appart from that your in newcastle so you may well be better off taking it to a SUBARU specialist closer to you, I don't know who's up your way but just put a thread up in general asking for recommendations, maybe AS Performance are close by and he comes highly recommended.
Your only talking about a £10 part here as it's either the spiggot bearing or the thrust bearing and your still not 100% on the problem so don't go and spunk £390 on a second hand unknown box, only to discover it's the clutch thrust bearing or the flywheel spiggot bearing.
Speak to someone that knows what they are talking about, not some random joe spanner monkey.
P.S, You got one thing right by coming on here.
