As title,
In the process of buying various items for work im doing on my 99 classic.
One of the jobs is the clutch, i have the clutch kit, but wondering about having the flywheel skimmed while im in there.

Reason for the change is judder when cold and sometimes during hard use can crunch going into 1st and pedal feels a bit mushy, ( probably old fluid)

Do most have the flywheel skimmed as part of the clutch change job ?

you need to ensure the condition of the flywheel as a min. - skimming isn't always required

Ill take flywheel off anyway and get my local machine shop to check it, and skim if needed.

I don't want to get it all back together to find the same problem of judder.

Plan is to replace fluid, check master and slave clutch cylinders, get flywheel looked at and fit new clutch kit.

Anything else worth looking at while im in there?

Get in contact with White Noise as he sells lighten machined OEM flywheels down to 6.5kg... His work is amazing with over 25+ happy customers (me being one of them), Great prices and something to consider if you are going to have the standard one skimmed.

I've needed to change/skim the flywheel on each clutch change, some can get away with not depending on the condition of the flywheel.

Exedy and Subaru will tell you to always skim/replace.

As a side note, a clutch change is a great opportunity to upgrade to a brand new forged lightweight flywheel. Probably the single best thing I did to my Impreza.
