Default Grinding and smelly box

Just to start off , hello new to the forum

Recently bought a 2003 wrx with a few mods running around 325bhp .

First of my problems is 4th gear grinds at the high end , obv syncro worn but iv read on a lot of forums that if you can get it before it gets badly damaged by using different oils ? Just wondering if I can save it before it gets so bad , only grinds at around 6000rpm or more ..

Secondly while reversing I get like a burning smell in the cabin which I can't tell where it's coming from ? Common problem.?

Also in the wrong catergory but every shock knocks or something around it , possibly top mounts ?

Any help would be great thanks

I was expecting so much more with that thread title, lol.

As above chances are it's the clutch that's giving off the smell, Redline shockproof is a good oil for hiding gearbox issues just bear in mind just because you can't feel/hear it anymore doesn't mean you won't have problems at a later date

Hi thanks for the reply

The redline shockproof ? Do you mix it with other fluid as a ratio like iv seen others do or just full box with it ?
Should it hide it or will I still feel it

Hi

This should help with the grinding.

You can't guarantee it will make things 100% better, but it should help.

Cheers

Tim

Hi

Yes, it's an oil, not an additive.

Cheers

Hi

It's okay to mix, but diluting the Shockproof with another oil will make it less effective.

Cheers

[QUOTE=ezzy1;11384775]It is quite annoying I must say and smelly , have you replaced clutch yet ?[/

The clutch had been replaced when I got it to a paddle/organic clutch, if I slip the clutch for a second or to it stinks, but the clutch bites very well and does not slip once engaged.
