MoTec tuning/mapping advice
Hi all
have got a mate at work who has just become the proud owner of a STi, he has had a few cars modded before (mainly Toyota) and swears by MoTec, for some reasoon he has asked if I know anything about them on Scoobies. My main experience with ECU stuff was Unichip on my old MR2 Turbo so i have got a clue really. Anyone on here know anyone that can map/tune them and is it expensive? Is it best to buy new or cana second hand one be flashed (no sure on terminology)
Any help would be great, at least if i can go back to him with some info i might look like a scooby guru
Best regards

Dave Rowe has a very good reputation, but you also have alternatives:
Richard Bulmer of Tracktive Solutions. Not only did he used to work for the Toyota works team, but he was also one of the head honcho's for MoTeC UK several years ago. What he don't know about ECU's / mapping is not worth knowing.
Richard Benton of PowerStation also knows his stuff regarding MoTec and uses it regulary for race cars that they map.
Others include respected mappers like Bob Rawle etc.
So you have a few options.

Does your mate really need a motec?!?
If it's a new age Impreza, Ecutek tunring of the std ECU is more than capable for most. Circa £600 mapped
If it's a classic, Simtek is ideal, circa 1k fitted and mapped
If he fancies something a bit more feature loaded, Solaris.....circa 1.5k fitted and mapped.
Plenty of A1 mappers on here that can do all 3!
