Default Looking for a Scooby Specialist in N.Herts

Hi all, I've run into a problem with my MY00 (seems to be sticky around 4K rpms) and been informed to go to a specialist rather than a main dealer where they can perform diagnosis relatively cheaper than dealer.

Is there any recommendations in the N. Herts area, Stevenage, St Albans, even Luton area?

Many thanks,

G

I would go to power enginnering in Uxbridge mate, they should be able to sort you out as they do ecu remaps etc. Plus they aren't too far away as I live in Nth Herts myself.

I had that feeling after I done some digging on this site. I really need to get my 90K service done and so far for the entire life of the car it has gone to Quenby. I'm not knocking them as they've always done a great job but times are hard at moment and the car is a MY00 (is it worth the dealer stamp I ask myself) ... just want to shop around for prices and know I'm gettting a good job done.

Also I seem to have a stuttering problem, a few threads on it in here to so I think I can crack that one or if it goes to a garage know I'm not being fobbed off.

Who do you guys use? I'll be checking out your site soon.

Many thanks for your help.

I spoke to many specialists, gave a lot of thought, more thought and a lot more thought to using one over my local Subaru dealer (Quenby). With the prices I got and factoring in petrol, my time and spending money while waiting for the service I decided it wouldn't be too far off the price from Quenby ... so decided for what it was worth and the stamp in the book to stay with them.

I had the 90K done with belts and also they sorted out a 4K rpm stuttering problem, turned out to be a MAF. Bill on the desk was great and kept me informed along the way, and everything he was talking about matched the feedback I read on this site - which put my mind at rest!

One thing that does make me wonder ... why don't these garages throw in a free car wash! ... they charge enough and even my Mrs gets her cleaned when it goes in to Renault for anything.
