Default Subaru Harlow fail to deliver yet again...........

My fourth and final attempt since they opened the parts department at getting some kind of decent service but again they failed miserably. Each and everytime I've been in there I've been kept waiting at least 10 minutes whilst they locate the only man in the building that knows how to work that "sh1tey Subaru system".

They can't locate anything without a chassis number, not even an oil filter or sump plug washer
Yesterday I wanted an uppipe gasket but they couldn't locate that even after giving them the chassis number - they asked where on the car the uppipe was located They suggested that they would have to pass this issue onto Subarus technical dept. but at 3pm they were done for the day and could only send a request by email - they were specifically instructed not to call them
They've failed to return any of my calls

Quite frankly their attitude stinks and the quicker they jack in the Subaru servicing the better

Yup-agreed-one minor prob-Subaru Parts Technical helpline are there from 8.15-5.15 (4.45 on a Friday) The bit about being specifically asked not to call them is complete b@ll$. There are three guys there dealing with dealer queries of this nature, by phone, fax and e mail.

Dash off a quick letter to the head of the parts dept. That ought to get some action!!

This is the first Subaru i have owned and thought how good it would be to have the dealer on my doorstep. However, as you have experienced, the couple of times i have gone in there for parts enquiries etc, they are very dissapointing and slow in their service.

There is a couple of web sites which list Subaru part numbers, so next time i am going to go in armed with a part number and see how that works out !!

My car is now due for its first 10,000 service and i have no confidence in their ability. I can't help that the mechanics at a multi-franchise garage are experts in all the 5 or so makes of cars they deal in.

I am therefore going to travel the extra mileage to Days of Chelmsford.

Steve.

Yep, we felt the same...when Peter went in to introduce himself etc they thought he was an alien or something!!!! Very confusing!!!!

We will stick with Days in Chelmsford.....they help us out when we need them.....sometimes a case of "you scratch my back...I`ll scratch yours"

Why use Subaru dealers for service at all? You have the likes of Power Engineering, Extreme Scoobies etc. in the general area who will service your car cheaper, use better oil, genuine Subaru filters etc and your warranty stays intact! For the most part they are more knowledgable as they tend to be more enthusiastic about the cars they specialise in.
Example:- Extreme Scoobies were over £90 cheaper than Wilsons for the 2 year service on my STi despite using more expensive oil!

Where are Extreme Scoobies or indeed any other recommended service centres. WEB sites or addresses could be useful.

Many thanks,

Steve

If you do want to use a Subaru dealer - for whatever reason, speak to Jim Childs at Cheam Motors - he WILL get what you want and send it to you.
