Default Special Scoobys

Andy in Colchester, did me proud, my MY95 bottom end popped, I met Andy at Ripspeed Donny, he seemed to know his stuff, I asked him a couple of questions and he told me fixing Scooby's was how he made a living.

I rang round, eventually sourced a second hand engine from Heathrow Jap Spares, Andy recommended an uprated oil pump, did the work in record time and was more than reasonably priced.

Top quality customer service from start to finish, Highly recommend him to anyone needing anything Scooby.

Thats good ..... you paid him for a job and he carried that job out

Customer Service should be standard these days, but sometimes isn't, so top marks for that aspect.

Nice to see something other than an API **** licking now and again

Was the work simply an engine swap plus new oil pump? And how did you find Heathrow Jap Spares? what was the cost of an engine?

It was a swap, HJS seemed OK, charged me £710 delivered, low milage, 3 months return if it breaks, I initially sourced a lump from Nippon, read a post on the forums and decided to avoid them.

You are right Customer Service should be standard but I am sure you will agree you find, more often than not, with mechanics you get the big deep breath followed by, 'it'll cost ya!'.

I am a total Scoob noob and have never owned a turbo before either. Andy answered all my noob questions as if he had never been asked them before!.

I did call round a number of places and he definately came across 'better' for want of a appropriate word.

What were the circumstances of your engine blowing, out of interest?

Seems that oil starvation caused bottom end to dry up. It started rattling like no-ones business.

What makes you think it was oil starvation? I'm not in anyway saying it wasn't but I'm genuinely interested in the reason for failure rather than an assumption.

to be fair it is an assumption based on other peoples experiences, open heart has not yet been performed on the engine. I'll post up when it has, may be a couple of months yet
