Question big thanks to Andy Forrest!

had Andy down to map the power fc in my type R on friday, what a fantastic job he has done not only with my car but with all 3 cars that were mapped on the day.

having used Andy many times in the past for the mapping of my previous subaru and other customers cars i had no hesitations using him with this one.

i am a very happy chap thanks Andy!

for anyone that doesn't know here is his website- www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk

WoooooHoooooooo!!!!!!

Excellent news - another, "Thanks for a job I paid a wad of cash for!" thread

WTF is it with this BBS ... it's all utter bollox!!

No doubt Andy Forrest is fantastic at what he does - but it's what he DOES do and gets paid for it (handsomely, if I can believe the £200+ talked about for changing DATA in an ECU!!)

So, come on, when someone does a great job - FOR FREE - I want to know!!

If it's 'business as usual' please, please stop the bum-boy **** licking FFS!

You had an excellent job done, thats GREAT but am I right in assuming you paid around £200 for it??

So, it was 'business as usual'??

Would you like to know about the MOT my wifes car passed today after failing yesterday? I would like to thank FRED the manager and John the tester for helping me through the whole ordeal.

I won't post up their website or advertise for them, as, oddly enough, I paid them for their services and I am not a sad *****

Alternatively, Pete: someone could have taken a wad of cash from him and delivered an unsatisfactory result; an imperfect level of service; a sub-standard map for safety and performance that left him angry and with his car at risk of damage or further unwarranted expense.

Why shouldn't he use the site to give Andy a testimonial that will promote his business and obvious expertise?

I understand what you're pointing out, but in this case you're a little off-beam.

i have posted a thank you so other subaru owners can benefit from my experience, i think that is what scoobynet is all about, if you don't like it don't read it!

if it helps other people out i don't have a problem with it.

after all this is "the on line subaru community" isn't it?

It's the only way to separate the wheat from the chaff Pete. By recommending good mappers/garages and not recommending the bad ones everyone is in the know. Although I think you should get a discount for if you give them free advertising on forums like this.

He had the job done YESTERDAY!!!

The engine 'may' blow in 18 months time due to something in the map.

My point is - he cannot POSSIBLY know if a good job has been carried out or not!! Not yet!!

I am NOT suggesting that Andy Forrest is anything but top notch - but all this relentless **** licking makes me sick!!

I would reckon that a thread saying that some garage/mapper/tuner has cocked up FAR more useful ............ BUT, they get deleted!!!

If I want a good mapper I will ask on here and request pms to maintain the integrity of ScoobyNet.

Number 1 .... it's PAID not PAYED!!

Number 2 .... his ECU re-map 'may' destroy his engine gradually over the next 18 months!!!

THEN, the post stating that would get DELETED!!!

By all means say thank you to whoever has given you a service - but PLEASE stop the **** licking on here FFS!!!

So, he swapped out the MAF for you - you lazy bugger!! It only takes 20 seconds and an IQ of 10!! YOU should have done it!!

This is truly outstanding service ... please, we want the details of what was carried out FOC!!

i had an apexi power fc which doesnt retard the fueling for a damaged maf so the engine is tuned to the damaged MAF, which means the fueling has to be retarded <i think> to allows for the damaged maf and you cant just add a new maf as it will screw all the settings up and may cause damage!! so a new maf has to be added and then mapped accordingly, but my car had a fmic and an APS clod air kit which had the maf mounted in a different location so it wasn't actually an apprentice job

Welcome to the World of customer service. It's a well-known fact that following a bad experience a consumer will tell circa 10 others about the poor service that has been delivered -- yet following a positive experience (whether just okay, good, superb, or excellent), typically the number informed is minimal (if any).

So what's wrong with singing about a positive experience..? It's not '**** licking' it's giving fair recognition where it's felt deserved -- especially welcome when society is full of rogue traders.

Remember, it's fundamentally about 'customer service'. In this case here, what's going to happen to Jonny's car in 18 months is irrelevant. Jonny doesn't know, Andy doesn't know... heck, not even God knows!

Jonts.
