I will certainly be going for a respray and armourfend, after some new wheels and brakes upgrade.

HI I am not going to advertise here, but I do need to clarify an issue we are in no way related to Armourfend we are Connected to XPEL Technologies in the US the only similarity to Armourfend is we both use 3M film.
Hope that helps clarify the situation.

HI
Just thought you might like some info as to why the bonnets typically only go part way, basically there are several reasons: Film cost, the raw material is quite expensive, in order to go beyond 24" (the maximum roll size usually used by installers) the cost of doing the Job gets uneconomic to most customers. Machine costs, most machines used to produce these 30" are roll cutters. So to go beyond a 30" roll size means a new and more expensive machine.
Next, even if you could stay within the confines of a 24" or 30" roll, the length of these would normally mean a two man job to fit the piece to a decent standard, pushing the labour cost to unrealistc price levels. Some installers may do a custom bonnet wrap but usually for the above reasons they are too expensive for the majority of clients.
This does not make the kit any less effective, however my Subaru now has 27,000 miles from new and has a full kit fitted. It has sustained no damage at all in this period. Typically most chips further up the bonnet are secondary impacts that have already caused damage further down the bonnet line. The film will absorb the energy from a primary impact which usually (not always) means that there is no further damage on the subsequent impact.
You have to be very unlucky as a rule to get damage beyond the end of a well designed bonnet kit.
