Hi All
Just had a letter from my local Subaru dealer,Beechdale of Nottingham, kindly informing me that they are shutting there doors on 24th October.
My new service dealer is in Derby around 15 miles further away than beechdale, i've come to trust and liked the service given by the people at Beechdale, looks like i'm going to have to change dealer now and hope they are as efficient as the beechdale staff.
The excuse given by Beechdale is that there Co-Director is retiring, why do they have to close the franchise down because of this, surely they can get another Co-Director prepared to take the job on?
I'm just a little annoyed by this closure, and the fact that i will have to travel around 30 miles(round trip) to get my car serviced.

The local service dealer 15 miles away is still Beechdale ??? all beit in Derby
I had no complaints taking my car to Nottingham before there was a derby dealer ??
You could own a Porsche and have to wait ages for a service or breakdown work. Think yourself lucky
PS Beechdale in Derby have always given me good service by the way. I have bought 4 turbo's off them

Never used them myself but from what I can gather Beechdale were not very good. Take yourself to TSL - only another couple of miles down the road and they will give you everything you need.

I would be fairly sure that you will be able to deal with Beechdale Derby , Also on checking the paperwork with my order it may actually be that your contract is with International Motors

You want to try scoobyclinic. They're independants and based in Chesterfield. They have a good relationship with subaru as far as i can tell and they love scoobies.
Great set of lads. No links to the company - just excellent serive when I've been there.

I dont think you will have any probs at Derby,
the Top Man there could prob change your clutch
in less than an hour with a blindfold on (no names though Mr DD)
he as looked after my Subaru's for 8 years
he's the Daddy.

From what I understand ...
Beechdales will\do offer a collect and deliver service. So the 15 mile should not be a problem. The letter said they are looking at somewhere on the A52 as an extension to the servicing so that wouldn't be too bad.
I don't think you could class retirement as an "excuse". They could get another Co-Director but is there not a risk in that. Plus I believe styners have offered a very good deal for the site. Therefore making the risk not so attractive.
I have seen work on the car v.hot they just use big gloves (had to run the car and then they changed something and I ran it hard )
The service at derby is at least if not better from the mechanic side (agree with d hill 555 ). Will miss the service reception though at Notts, very friendly.
Mr Scotsman quote "Never used them myself but from what I can gather Beechdale were not very good" Try em and judge for yourself. I had heard bad things about lots of places but you cannot bet your own judgement.
Foxmod, I am sure they will just sort if from Derby ... number on our letter is 01332 372555.
Again all imho, just used em over the last 3 years and had good service from em.

TSL are good and do know their stuff.
However, one of the last letters they sent out related to Subaru UK's lawyers investigating claims that TSL were stamping the service book claiming the warranty was still valid.
Beechdale seem to think that this is not the case due to TSL not being a Subaru Approved service agent.
I'd still use TSL though for tuning and non-warranty service stuff.

Under block exemption..
MANUFACTURERS warranty is unaffected by any specialist performing service work on any car, as long as service schedules, parts quality, best practises etc are strictly adhered to.
IMPORTERS warranty is different.. they CAN (and do) stipulate that you stay within the dealer network. This applies to the old years 2 and 3.. which were underwritten by IM.. not FHI
We correctly inform people of the fact that they are free to choose by LAW whilst the vehicle is under the FHI warranty. The legislation of October 2002 clearly states this.
We have also applied for "Subaru Approved Repairer" status. Again this legally has to be granted to any specialist who fulfills the necessary criteria (thus including many similar businesses in the UK).
This then means that not only is warranty unaffected.. but warranty work can be carried out with the proper reclaim mechanism in place for all parties.
Cheers
Paul

Ok , i love to drive my scooby around, but when it's in for a service the thing will be too hot for them to touch until mid morning. Beechdale was just in the right place, your engine would be just right for them to be able to drain oil off ETC without getting themselves fried.
