Rumour has it that Godspeed can supply a replacement disc and bell set up for the prodrive Alcon calipers...........
Is this right, if so.how much.... and can I have some? :-)

Yes, AFAIK it's true. There are a few others too. Did you see the post in the Wheels, Tyres and Brakes Forum?
I think they're circa £400, but Ian would be able to confirm himself obviously.
What do you think of the Alcons?

Weeeeellllll,
Not entirely impressed to be honest...... they LOOK great....and there's no fade...... but I never feel like the cars braking as hard as it could...even with the braided hoses etc, I have to lift my **** out of the seat to get a powerful response!!!...I'm hoping a new disc and pad setup will wake them up a bit!!! I've driven on a pagid setup in the standard 4 pot calipers, and to be honest it inspired more confidence. :-(
Thats why I want a third party replacement - if I can't get discs and pads cheaper I'll put the original kit back on!

Well **** me
I've heard people say they are very good brakes, with the only downside being the costs for replacing the discs and a tendancy to crack/warp under heavy use.
I need new brakes myself and can't decide on what to go for. The Prodrive/Alcons were a consideration, but don't like the sound of that; especially when you're thinking of putting the orignal 4-pots back on. How many miles have you covered in them?

Ozzy, for the money I paid (£1800 fitted with braided hoses) you can get a lot better.
The first set of discs and pads lasted LESS than 3000 miles. The pad compound was too hard, and the brakes had to be REALLY hot before they were any good. Unfortunately, once you got them hot enough to work, the resulting dust destroyed my wheels (burnt through the coating - Subaru assured me there was nothing to do but buy new wheels - goodbye further £800!!) I now find I could have had them blasted and recoated for £15 each. but thats another story!
The next set of discs and pads have lasted about 20000 miles (if I remember rightly when they were changed!) and they've still got a little bit of life left in them, but performance has slowly deteriorated as they've worn. As I say, they've never felt particularly sharp. I believe the current pads are 2500's - better than the original pads fitted, but still not £1800 worth of braking IMHO.

Stefan,
By the way - that post was started by me - unfortunately all the leads turned out to be dead ends...... the only one I haven't been able to track down yet is Godspeed......
TSL have started doing replacement discs and pads, but at £695 Excl. VAT these aren't cheap either - admittedley its a dual disc and bell setup, so will be cheaper in the long run, but I don't know whether I'll have the car for long enough to make the investment worth while! Already had it 3 years......

Sorry to hear about your problems. Didn't notice you'd started that other thread; should have re-read the post
Thanks for your info and best of luck with Godspeed.

We can offer you a disc and bell set up to replace the original one piece disc , they are £475 a pair , then £145 a disc from there on , you can have them grooved , drilled or both , but if you are doing track days I would recommend the grooved only as the holes will start cracking on the track. you can reach me on either 01656 660899 or ian@godspeedbrakes.co.uk , Hope this helps , Ian
