No probs,
I do just want to say that, I haven't had any problems with stuff they have done for me and yes they are good, just found this slighty odd, and even more so seeing as they have a silver impreza for sale with a SS back box with warranty up for sale

Now that I have read your thread on the back box issue, I remember it from before.
I chose Adams over other local Subaru dealers because of their previous Service Manager (Bill) and the interest and time he took over my car. Since he has left, I did notice a drop in their level of customer support, which has been restored a little by the new lady who answers the phone (can't remember her name). Once I get my car back today, I will be able to give a better opinion of whether they have restored themselves fully.
When I dropped the car off, I was a little amused by one of the sales guys who took my keys and service books and said "It's an import. Huh, didn't think we touched those." With not too nice a tone. However he was trying to close a deal with a customer and was probably just trying to ram home the fact that UK cars are superior to parallel euro imports...

I call it as I see it, just find it funny they tell me one thing but are actually doing another i.e car for sale with SS zorst for sale with warranty but wouldn't fit mine cos it will affect my warranty, must find out how that works when I see them tomorrow.

I used to use Adams when I had a MY99, I bought the car when they were Deerleap and then they moved to Aylesbury and become Adams.
I thought the Service dept or Bill was excellent and would have always recommended people to go there, where has Bill moved to, anyone know?

well, I can say that I am severly disappointed with the way we have been treated by Adams. Ok, I appreciate that the problem was spotted with the gearbox during its service and it is being replaced due to the fact the car is less than 2 years old.
However, the scoob was booked in with a courtesy car organised. If a car is booked in on a certain date with the work known, a courtesy car should have been available for that time. I would love to know the explantion for why we (actually the poor hubby) had to schlep to Aylesbury in order for the courtesy car to be changed 3 times in ONE WEEK. We start off with an Isuzu truck, followed by a peugeot 206 and are currently on a daihatsu YRV. Yes, we have been in negociation over this but I have to say that I may well consider taking business elsewhere. Its a shame, all companies have staff turnover but this is appalling
<rant over but still scoobless>

the main reason I'm disappointed is because this is the second time this year we've had a problem and its been us that did the chasing. Don't even get me started on the spoiler problem...although it has now been fixed after 2.5 months of us chasing them...ok so they had a problem with Subaru not wanting to know but it would have only taken a two minute courtesy phone call to let us know what was going on.

Reading this thread with interest as they're my local dealer too. I test drove various Scoobys with them along with my Father in law. He bought a Sport from them, I imported a MY00 Turbo from Holland (for less than he paid for the sport ). They got one sale out of us I guess and have serviced both cars since new. Some staff have been a bit sniffy with me over the fact that mine's an import but, hey, I'm a big boy and I can take it (especially with the £6k I saved). Bill always seemed a good guy. Got mucked around with a courtesy car myself from them too though (despite requesting it well in advance). I think the staff seem to have changed quite a bit. Is the guy in sales who looks like Tiff (Needell, not Mitchell ) still there (John I think?)? He was a genuinely nice bloke.
As an import owner, I've not got that much against the dealers, my beef is more with IM for being high-handed with imports and for not bringing over models that would keep me with the marque next time round (Sti Wagons, faster Legacies).

Picked my car up from Adams earlier this evening and I must say they seem to be back on track. The car was cleaned and vacumed (as it should be) and they did a thorough job. All 10k bits changed, plus all tyres checked and hand brake tightened. The car drives beautifully and really seems to have benefitted from a day at the garage.
As I asked them to, they checked a knocking noise from the engine which is only audible when the engine is cold and relative to the engine speed. Turns out to be piston slap, which I thought had been sorted with the MY01 WRX (anybody know any different?). Should be sorted under waranty, fingers crossed!

Ian,
I know!! The noise is terrible, but goes once the engine is warm. They tell me it is piston slap and that they think it is cylinder 4. Is this not common in the MY01 WRX? What do they do to cure it?

On 98's (like mine) they started by replacing the block (IIRC) then as more showed up faulty they just replaced the offending piston bit (again IIRC) it was normally no 2.
Yours is the first 01 that I have heard of with this prob.
And you have 10K on the clock?
Doesn't sound very promising.

Not even 10k, only 8.5k, it's first birthday came first!! The thing is, I had it booked in when it was about 6 months old with this problem, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Today they heard the noise and diagnosed as above. Not worth losing any sleep over... Well at least not until the warranty runs out!
