There used to be a company, that did some pretty hot mini stuff, but havent really heard much about them. My mini days stopped a few years ago. In saying that, I do recall hearing they also tune subarus, but cannot find any evidence of that. I just remember reading it somewhere. I think the guys name was Bill Gwynne??

There used to be "manx" heads for sale a few years ago .A unique design to them ,a semi downdraft inlet. At the time they had a very good reputation for build quality ,power ,and reliability. Some heads had infills to raise the inlet port ,these were allen keyed in through the water jacket and needed to be checked especially on older engines, hope this was a little bit of help

Mini stuff may have nothing to do with a pinto block, except they are both ancient, but still they can be turned into very powerful engines when turbocharged, again totally irrelevant to the question.
I also stated that I heard he tuned imprezas. Basically I have heard the name, and from memory, he does have a very good reputation for building good engines.
Of course, when people hear that, they will try and sell their sh1tty DIY built engine, and claim that MR X built it, as the buyer will think, O brilliant, Im getting a super dooper engine here.
Unles you can actually verify where the engine came from, Id take anything the seller says, with a pinch of salt.

Stevie,
I think you are right about the minis-a couple of people I have mentioned it to over here have also mentioned that.I got somebody who knows what they're talking about(i.e. not me!) to phone the seller today and it seems we are talking about a proper engine from a genuine guy.I get the dyno sheets tomorrow.
BTW Stevie-could you recommend a courier who could collect it in Wales and take it over here for me?
Cheers,
SD.
Also-Dean,
Wecould well be talking about the same guy.If you could get his number for me that would be great. These guys usually remember every engine that they build!

Also Colin-thanks for your reply.Any information is appreciated.

I have spoken to Bill from Manx Racing today, and printed off this topic for him.He said you are quite welcome to give him a ring, and for the record his name is Bill Quine,Telephone No 01722 716639.
If you say Dean put you in touch he should remember what it is about.
Cheers
