Phones4u -10 out of 10 for effort!
Coming to the end of my contract.
So they called me.
Toying with a return to iPhone, so pushed for a deal...
Currently with O2, so am entitled to a monthly discount due to education employment. So it comes down to about £28 per month regardless.
Soooo, the deal (upgrade) put forward was:
No charge for 16gig handset
24 months contract
Unlimited calls &texts
1gig of data
Soooo,on the surface, not a bad deal....for £32 per month.... As long as I accept there and then!
So,no mention of the education discount, or the simple matter of the launching of a new phone within the next few weeks (date mentioned was 22nd September.....
Sounds like a half decent deal if you're after an iPhone 5.
I was just a little peeved that the deal was for today only. I don't buy that BS.

A light-hearted little dig at p4u to be honest
my only (minor) issue was the blatant push to get me to sign up there and then for a phone that's already about to superseded somewhat in the next couple of weeks.
It's obvious that they've got a massive stock of iphone 5 models, and they want to move them on before the new one comes out.
The push being that the price "might" go up once the new model's released. Unlikely, but if it does, it does. I have no doubt that a comparable if not better deal will be offered at the time of upgrade.
The daft thing was that the "free" phone aspect was pushed, of which not once was I asked if I would want to pay up-front for it.
I accept that many people would prefer to have the handset cost be absorbed into the monthly fee, but I would have liked the option at least.
Out of interest, how does one give notice to Phone4U? I'm still probably going to stay with O2 due to the Educational aspect (although the shaved monkeys in my local store today didn't exactly fill me with confidence!).
Is it the same as normal? A month's notice in writing - requesting a PAC etc ect.....

I bought an iphone 4 second hand last year £200. I pay £10 a month for a 30 day contract on the o2 network through Giffgaff. 500 mins, 1 gig date, unlimited texts.

My kids are on GiffGaff, as is my iPad, but you can't use it abroad, so I've ignored it.
Great if you want to spend upfront too.
That said AGAIN, I've hit that option of to having a phone (dreamworld), but wife has decreed it a must. Bugger!

Nice what i hate about it all is the stupid contract lengths, you simply cant get an upgrade really early without having to pay out of it, or carry on paying n getting another contract to get the next phone free or for a small cost. By the time mine is over the S10 will be out.
