New modem required
OK I'm on Sky, with a Netgear DG834GT and at work we have the same Netgear, but on TalkTalk. The work one is having issues, though I think it's the main box on the street tbh. Anyways, we're going to replace the one at work and if it doesn't sort the issues, I'll put it in my own house. Trouble is I'm not sure what to go for. I like how easy the DG is to setup, so need that, but also what it to be quick and not spend upwards of £60.
Any thoughts on this...

first thought is that both of those are for cable and as such wont work with your adsl (they aren't modems).

is what you want.

I bought a netgear D6300
After having trouble with netgear before, i was a bit sceptical,
Have to say (initial set up apart, its not too bad)
it can be used with either cable or ADSL and also has the new AC standard as well

I had a net gear wndr4500, what a bloody nightmare, if you research net gear, they have a bad reputation. It would forever drop wan sometimes once an hour. I tried everything firmware updates, factory reset, nothing worked for long
I bought a Billion modem router, with an extra internet connection I use with a USB 3g modem. It has been faultless since install and the 3g back up works a treat in 7 secs, not that is has needed to toggle over other than me testing the capability :-)

With there N series, you need to see the firmware / OS before committing...
My N series has no telnet or extended commands embedded ... not good when you want to telnet in to tweak the firmware

Yup, When it comes to Wifi or modems its an ****. I've gone through a number of them over the years and nothing in the market past or present is 100% IMO.
Belkin typically are easy to set up out of the box. But have a habit of being flakey or buggy long term. Our N1 Vision at work worked great...for a while. Then it started playing up and despite updates progressively got worse.
Draytek. Top notch for features. Not brilliant to set up...there's some good online guides, and boy do you need them as the menu system isn't that intuitive IMO. In addition, my iPhone doesn't like our works Draytek Wifi/modem, I have to reboot the phone or the Draytek to get it to reconnect (that said I have the same issues with the Netgear wiFi router next door, same with the Belkin, and its not just my iphone...other peoples iPhones have played up too ).
Yes it the iPhone at fault, but you try telling Apple that (or a Apple fan boy ).
Asus. Got one at home...just the cable version. But they make a ADSL one too. Superb, easy to set up, and good menu interface. Intuitive and has common sense too...like it doesn't mask the wifi passwords in the admin menu - which is a pet hate of mine...if you have the password to the admin control panel, why does the wifi password need to be hidden? I know it seem petty but when you have a iPhone thats adament the wrong Wifi password is being used, it handy to double check its correct in the Wifi modem's admin menu The only flaws is it struggles to detect that the my cable internet has gone down, but seeing you would be looking at the ADSL versions it shouldn't be a issue for you. Also the default QoS setting are wrong and it will massively retsrict file transfer speeds, especially over Wifi (I just disabled QoS).

The tp link stuff is pretty rock solid, I use them, cheap solid and do the job.
The newer net gear stuff is easy and ok, the old gt was a nightmare to be honest and was the bane of net gears life, but still a good little thing, the n2000 or similar is same deal inside menus etc.
Draytec are good but maybe a bit complex for you if you want something simpleton, they don have a easy interface but I'd probably go tp to start with.

I thought they were just access points.
by the looks you need a Modem as in ADSL Modem, so in essence a router with the Modem Built iN
So an adsl router of sorts is what your after
