Anyone using it on apple tv 2 ?
I would like to ditch my £40 a month virgin tv package and invest in this instead.
I have cable broadband which is between 20/30 mb speed and have a top range 46" sony lcd tv.
What are the pros and cons and can anyone recomend me a supplier for the box and software already set up?
Thanks
Andrew

I was actually looking at this as VM have put their prices up ......again.
My boss recently picked up one of ebay about £200 iirc and the picture quality is decent but it all depends on how well some of the programmes/films have been ripped/copied.
My only concern about getting one is VM fair usage/traffic shaping policy but that all depends on how much you would be using it I suppose.

Picture quality is a big concern, but as said i suppose this is down to the streaming and quality of the content. All i know is, appletv can only do 720p resolution output when my tv is 1080i. Will there be a picture quality step down due to this?

If it's main use is going to be theft then I'd consider another device, one that will stay working without it becoming a hobby. There are tons of boxes for £50 that will happily play all of your stolen goods, they're made for the job.

Sorry but you've been ripped off if anyone pays £200 for something that can be done for free.
ATV 3 will be cracked eventually.

That is quite a large presumption. I also have an imac ipad and iphone all of which are too restrictive as out of the box and need to be given the freedom of choice you get from non apple products. Otherwise i would have not have bought into the companies products.

Why do you need an Apple TV? What restrictions? I use mine for mirroring my iPad/iPhone, Netflix, Vimeo and iTunes streaming mostly, anything you can get into iTunes you can play on Apple TV, even pirate and ****.

Exactly my point. If you have media that won't play in iTunes, then you made a mistake early on. Buy something designed for Pirates, it'll play everything and won't cost £200.
If you can't be arsed with Pirates and Hacking then there are some great scripts for handbrake that will tear through a collection pretty quickly, or I'm quite sure you can Airplay your collection anyhow. There are apps for that.
