Samsung Guilty of copying Apple.
Over a billion in compensation should sting a bit. Now all you Samsung using Apple haters know that you're basically using an Apple product, that must feel nice.

Jack you should try and read the detail before posting just the headlines.
The court disallowed evidence(will be shown in a appeal court) which would of demonstrated that the galaxy range was created before the iphone release.
The jury ignored the Judges instructions and decided what they wanted to do
It took the jury only 21 hours to deliberate 700 questions
Disregarded prior art evidence as it bogged down their deliberations- wanted to get home for the weekend
contradictory summing up of their judgement, mistakes were made
Interviews with some of the jury gave contradictory comments, and were misled by the foreman.
Foreman wanted to punish Samsung with a sufficiently high fine and not award penalty based on what apple allegedly lost
There was so much wrong with the whole court case and jury that Samsung will have plenty to go with on appeal

The irony is that the products that might be banned are old products anyway, it is like Samsung getting a ban on an Iphone 3gs.
As for Apple being copied... yeah right...

It was nothing to do with getting phones banned, it was getting Samsung to pay it's due's, and that happened. No it won't be a problem paying it back, Apple give them way more than that anyhow.

Apple shat themselves after seeing Samsung, who pretty much came out of no-where, take a big chunk out of Apples market share to overtake them as the worlds biggest phone seller in a matter of a few years. Apple couldn't do squat, the iPhone 4 and the 4S did nothing so slow their pace so did the next best thing and try to take out their rival in the courts instead.

"Apple Shat themselves" "Samsung came out of nowhere" "took a large chunk of market share"
None of those are fact and I got tired of cut and pasting.

And that's why they shat themselves and twisted the patent laws to litigate the competition out of the market.
You're wrong there, FACT!

Jack gets schooled once again
He just can not accept that Apple do not make very good phones or tablets in comparison to other manufacturers, there is no way he can ever be impartial about it all, which immediately invalidates what ever point he tries to make.

Whilst JC does tend to bitch like an old woman about this subject and quite obviously has an apple device shoved in every orifice, I have to confess that the context of your statement is fairly flawed.

Ok, the iphone is outdated compared to rivals, the 5 probably wont be a class leader when it comes out, the ipad is the best seller out there and pretty much trumps the competition, but not by much, its a very small margain now, id say that the Galaxy Tab 2 may even be better as its just been released, BUT Apple's biggest plus is ease of use, this is its biggest winner, though android devices are catching up and fast, and with windows 8 devices due out shortly, Apple have a fight on their hands to stay on top with that too.

From a technical standpoint the current iPhone maybe outdated, but in reality that doesn't make it an inferior product, so in essence could be construed as irrelevant in the context of my remark.

The big issue here is that Apple cannot compete on even terms so they try to patent every minor detail and those patents should never have been granted or should have been made available on fair and reasonable terms to other smartphone manufacturers. For example, gestures that Apple created for use on a touch screen should be patentable and made available to other smartphone makers on fair terms.
It is a ludicrous as Apples lawsuit with Microsoft over windows, which was like the Mac OS, a derivation of Xerox's GUI for which Microsoft paid licence fees to Apple for certain elements of Windows 1.0. Samsung and Apple need to sit down together and work out an amicable arrangement where the 2 companies can compete on even ground with reasonable cross licensing agreements that do not kill competition and result in ridiculous lawsuits every 5 minutes.
Apple will start to find themselves on the back end of a monopolistic practice lawsuit if they are not careful just like Microsoft did.
