Question

I have a DivX file that is 700 odd meg in size. I want to convert it to MPEG2 so that I can burn it to an SVCD to watch it on my DVD player.

I have used TMPGEnc to split it in half and decode it and when i do, the .mpg file created has no sound on it.

Is there any other programs i can try that can convert from DivX to MPEG-2 ??

TMPGEnc should do the job, have you checked your audio settings ?

When you split it you didn't demux the sound from the video did you ?

Try Virtual Dub or NanDub otherwise. Get em here

Cheers Dunk. You are right, it seems like TMPGEnc will not decompress and split the audio aswell. I need to use VirtualDub to do that seperately.

Think you can do it all in TMPEnc tho ? I normally convert to mpg, then use the mpg tools, (cut and merge I think) to split the file into 2 portions. Is this the sam way as you are doing ? Or does it lose your audio when decoding to mpg ?

Thumbs up

Definately convert then split

The DiVX header contains the information about the file and is written at the end of the file itself.

Just used VirtualDub to get the audio, and when I started TMPGEnc to do the decoding it wshowed me a visual for the audio file aswell as the video, so it looks like it will work (in 1.5 hours when its finished !!)

I used TMPGEnc to split the divx file in half and convert to mpeg in one go. Do you think i should convert it as one mpeg file and then split it ?
