Default Network printer probs

Just been given a colour laser printer, which i am trying to set up as a stand alone printer on the network.

Im running Xp and can see the ip of the printer 192.168.......64

I can ping the printer but when i try to print, it says no printer found.

I ran the setup disks and it set up a print spooler and set the printer up (so i thought)

I found a guide on the web, which helped but it appears I have a tcp mb problem. so i deleted the files from the system32 folder but with no success.

Any ideas

you may be required you to set up a tcp ip port to print to the printer.

This document covers what I am referring to www.musc.edu/infoservices/lynx/ip_printing.pdf

TCP/IP may be corrupt, to put it back to its default state, run up a command prompt as administrator and type the following.

netsh int ip reset c:\log.txt

Tried that, with no joy,

i managed to get it to work by setting up the network as the port and finding it from there

got both laser printers running now
