Question Battlefield 3 Premium

anyone getting it.

im thinking it is abit of a con, that you buy Back to Karkand twice (i have all ready got it on bf3)

and that you are buying expansion packs before you really know whats going to be in them.

but new guns etc is all ways good

I have been offline for a couple of months with getting married, honeymoon etc so a bit behind whats what. Went to play it yesterday but couldn’t due to 2gb update required! A mate mentioned this to me and it seems steep at £40 but I do have a £20 PSN voucher somewhere so not so bad a hit.

Why do you get karkand again as that was the bonus for those that pre-ordered BF3 and got the limited edition?

I doubt I'll buy it at the moment. I'm sure it'll come down in price. Would love some new maps but I don't play it anywhere near as much as I used to.

Yep, you're in the denial stage at the moment, I was the same. Then I was playing after a few beers the other night & ended up buying it. You get the Close Quarters maps & weapons (which are out now) and also a further two expansions : a vehicle-based set of maps to come out later & another one that's in development. When you consider the expansions for BF2 and BF2142 were £15 a pop it doesn't seem too bad. I still felt violated though !
The Close Quarters maps are good, very frenetic especially in TDM mode.

Shame it was PC only. I need to find a £15 PSN voucher a friend got me for my birthday as I seem to have misplaced it at home £25 sounds much better than £40 in my head haha.

Played a few hours over the weekend which was double XP so managed to rank up to Colonel Lvl 35. Long way to go lol - took 300+ hrs to get there. Played with a chap who was Lvl 91 but have not seen anyone higher so far.

Hopefully changing broadband providers to Sky will allow me to actually play in the evenings as on TalkTalk currently I may as well be on dialup.

Best thing for console owners (for me XBox 360) is to find someone selling points really cheap (ebay is the usual place) as I'm damn sure not giving MS my card detail.

Played with a lvl 100 last night (Conquest on Xbox) and he wasn't the best player (i.e wasn't a top 3 player on his own side),in some cases I do think that many of these players just grind rather than be useful to the team.

I gave in and bought premium the other day, must say I'm glad I did. I was going to buy all the map packs as they came out anyway so this will save me a few quid. You can rack up massive points on these close quarters maps.

Yeah level doesn’t mean anything other than you play a lot (or statboost). I play quite a bit of TDM when I haven’t got much time to play as can get some quick rounds in rather CQ where it can last for 30-60 mins plus and I hate having to quit.

I get annoyed with myself if I don’t finish in the top 2 of my team. Does annoy me that the team balancing doesn’t really work. Lost 4 matches on the trot the other night even though I was top there was a chap at the bottom of our team with TDM scores like 4 for 28. Wtf – how can you enjoy playing if your that bad? 1 round some guy came top with 3 kills and 3 deaths (I had 80 kills) so he must have boosting on something like the MAV. Again why play an FPS to sit at the back of a map flying some drone around just to get better points. Utterly pointless and you’ve done almost nothing to help your team win.

It's called teamwork : Recon are the eyes of the squad, so using the MAV or TUGS is a massive tactical advantage. I play recon a fair bit (fighting recon I hasten to add, I usually carry either a PDW or short-scoped DMR depending on the map) but to operate the MAV you need to hole up somewhere where you won't get shot to be of any value to your team.

I beg to differ. If it was in CQ mode I met let it fly as that is more tactical & team based but TDM is about racking up the most kills as quickly as possible. The maps are smaller versions and most of the time you and the enemy are on top of each other so you don’t need anyone to spot. The only reason that guy was spotting or whatever he was doing was to rack up as many points as quickly as possible to rank up.
