BOTH my printers have disappeared!

Went to use the laser printer this morning, got a message saying I needed to have a printer installed to do any printing

When I went to check, BOTH my printers are no longer installed.

Should I just download drivers and re-instal?
Or do I need to clear something else first?

Are they both on LAN? Which OS?

Check if print spooler service is running.

Sorry all. I was a bit mithered when I typed that. I needed to print, but got round it with help from Andy (COB on here).

OK, both printers are hard wired via USB. I am running Windows 7.
One is an HP Laserjet 1018, the other a Canon ip4600.

If you go into printers and stuff, it says the printer is fine.
But the 'puter can't see either for printing purposes.......
