Default What monitor Size - is 26"/27" to big?

In the process of changing my desktop, currently have a 22" but thinking of going up to 26"/27".

I do a lot of work on drawing programs with CAD and mainly otherwise use for Sage, word, excel etc.

Anyone use a monitor this big (or bigger)?

Is there a point where too big comes in to it?

i have a 27" for photography (computer monitor ).

Ideally, I'd have 2 portrait monitors too, 1 on either side for random apps, tool boxes, etc.

27 is enough to work with though.

I have a 27 inch imac.

When I got it, I thought it was way to big. Now I am glad I didn't get smaller.

I use a 22" and a 26" monitor on the same computer which gives a lot of space for extra windows. I find the 26" very good to use and am actively considering getting a 27" one to use instead of the 22" one.

I dont think you would regret getting the 26" or the 27" one

I use 32". I use a lot of music editing and producing software so the bigger screen lets me see more at a high resolution. Also it acts as a tv screen for when i stream films online that i can access from the bed with a cordless keyboard and mouse.

I have it mounted on the wall so the size doesn't really matter. I would probably go up to 40" but only as the software i use benefits from the monitor being even bigger. but wouldn't go over 40"

I would say, have either 1 monitor or 3. With 2 you'll get RSI if you spend any real time in front of them constantly looking either left or right for prolonged intervals.

Dual monitors is the way to go. I have twin 22's and I'd rather have both of them as opposed to a 30", despite the fact the 30 looks cool.

The flexibility of two monitors is outstanding and, Windows 7 snap feature notwithstanding, it is so much easier to throw tasks onto one monitor and other things onto the other. So often I find myself working on something on the left-monitor while comparing/reviewing/researching in real-time on the right-monitor.

I have one of these

Its the biggest screen I could fit in the space I have for my PC (on shelving with the PC in a amp/receiver type case). Very happy with it.

I have a pair of 24" monitors for work and would have a pair of 27s straight away. You can never have enough screen real-estate.

Don't forget most 27" or bigger monitors need dual-link DVI to drive resolutions like 2560x1440.

20-24-20 at work, much more versatile than a single large monitor.

Thanks for replies that is really helpful.

If I may be so stupid how do two monitors work?

It would be even more useful to have 2 different screens i.e. autocad on one and sage on the other so i can work on both without minimising.

How do i open different ones on each screen and what do i need to buy apart from 2 monitors?

The video card needs to have two video outputs, Its pretty straightforward, you can use each monitor as an extension of the other and slide the pointer across from one to the other and drag windows from one screen to the other too.

I have a 27 inch one, had it a few years now, and as Les said, most graphics cards now how 2 ports, if not you can use a splitter cable then change the properties/screens.

dunx is predicting that 4Mb screens will be here soon, I've been watching IPS prices and a good Dell 24" is down to £250 now... also HDTV prices are plunging due to my prediction...

dunx

P.S. I use a 32" 1080P TV and a 19" 4:3 monitor on my media box, and I am looking for a 24" monitor for the "bruiser"...

Na, the industry will probably want to milk the customer out of 2k screen/media first before they move onto 4k. Content creators will be capturing in 4k long before they need to start shipping it, I mean, why have to remaster when you can just click a tick box and produce another two versions of the same product so you can mug the customer again?

I use 2x 24s but could happily upgrade to 30s if I had the height available.
However, I swil be running 3x 24's by the end of next week all being well.
