Default Thinking of tablets

Currently doing quite a lot of commuting and contemplating taking the plunge into the world of tablets:

So here's the dilemna. Ipad3 and the new Galaxy are due to come out soon [alledgedly].Should I wait [no brainer I think] and which one is best...........

Also, what will the advancements of the ipad be on the last, I've been hearing that it may have quad core and full HD screen?

Cheers

Rup

For commuting I prefer powders, can't always guarantee access to a drink to flush the tablet

I would wait and see what the offerings are from Apple and Samsung in the near future, the biggest plus side to the Samsung is USB capability (with an adapter), the ipad doesnt have this.
Also read the reviews, in tests the Samsung does seem to edge it over the ipad, but its that close it will be down to whether you prefer IOS or Android.

There were some interesting noises coming out of CES a couple of weeks back regarding both. The iPad reports kept going on about ultra HD screen whereas the Samsung articles were all about power from what I recall.

If it was myself, I'd only go for the Apple option if I had other Apple hardware to use with it.

No apple hardware to date but I still I the opinion that apple is a better quality product.

I'm not looking to do work on the flights but entertainment a must.

The fact is that at the moment the specs of both tablets are just rumour and no one really knows what they will be like, I have an iPad 2 and I love it, I was very sceptical about tablets 6 months ago now I wouldn't be without it.

The new iPad is apparantly coming out at the start of march so specs should be out shortly, I think quad core is likely but again that's just my opinion.
Wait a few weeks and see what happens.

iPad is great in 15 months don't think we have switched the laptop on
So reliable and instant Internet ,no virus and never crashes
Photos storage is great for entertainment and games if you like those things
Utube access is good
On fact you will never have to talk to anyone again

If the biggest downside to the iPad is you need an adaptor to use USB, then buy the iPad. I use Dropbox instead of a USB drive, I can't think of any other reason to want USB on a tablet, the coffee warmers are rubbish.

Uploading pictures for example Jack, on the Samsung its plug straight into the camera, easy, on the ipad its upload them to your pc then off to your ipad.... quite a big advantage for the 10.1 i think, and now having played with both, the 10.1 seems to be the nicer to use, the apple looks the nicer with its metal case.

You need to keep up Tony. Look into photostream, I take a photo, it's on my iPad, iPhone, iMac and MacBook, automagically.

See my last reply and my last comment, now your stuffed with an ipad... good for a dslr or any other camera, plug in, upload, job done

Most people will take a tablet instead of a laptop due to size and weight (going abroad for instance), so if its your only device....

Couple of quid for an iPad card reader. Take the blinkers off and you'll suck on fewer lemons.

I plug my camera straight in to my iPad via this.

Instantly brings all my photos on my camera onto the screen

Carry on Jack, I dont need a card reader, I wont even have to remove the card out of the camera, just plug in and upload, all done, then delete off card and im ready to go again
Plus USB, as 99.99999999999% of all (decent) devices use this, its pretty much accepted universally, and I dont have to buy expensive apple junk

No different Tony, plug one end into the Camera and one end into the iPad.

Enjoy using your USB coffee warmer, I'm sure it does your already terrible battery life no end of good.

Terrible battery life have you seen how long the battery lasts on an ipad 2? no different Jack.

Ant, how many pictures do you take?
Most sensible people will upload their pictures at the end of the day if on a holiday IF they have that facility, lots of cards are great but lose one and there go your memories, rather upload and send to a NAS drive at home tbh.

OP, as you see, the apple boys jump on this bandwagon saying ipad, ipad, ipad, but you need a rather large bag to carry everything around with you
If you have just apple devices then the ipad is right up your street, if you want to be restricted to just buying or using what apple want you to, then its the ipad, if you want a bit of freedom and have access to far more devices with your tablet, then its android, and you just have to see how scared apple are of Samsung with all the duff law suits they keep throwing at them (then getting them thrown out )

Android is the future

Tony,
There is absolutely no difference in uploading photos between an iPad and Galaxy Tab. Also I can sync all my photos from my SGS2 to my iPad, which also syncs them all with my Laptop at home. I can also just take the memory card out of my camera and stick it in my SGS2 if I'm that worried about 'losing' photos, though in all the years I've taken photos abroad I've never lost any once

Also constantly uploading photos abroad will surely cost a fortune

I use SugerSync by the way

Don't bother Aaron, Tony's so consumed by Apple hatred he can't see when he's wrong. He's now trying to start some Fandroid petty argument to cover his mistakes, he should man up and admit to being wrong every now and then.

I wont get into all the rubbish above. I would wait and see what the iPad 3 brings. It is rumoured to be March.

As to whether that or the Galaxy, I prefer the iPad. No particular reason other than it works quite well and I prefer the things in app store as opposed to android market.

Jack, its not hatred, its just common sense, have I not said if you have lots of apple devices then go for apple?
You are androidfobic, if its not apple then you run a mile and I keep telling you, ive an iphone 4 and a 3GS, what I hate about apple is the restrictions they put on you, sorry to say, ive a mind of my own and I enjoy choosing and making my own choices

And Jack, you are the one dragging this thread down, id suggest you really need to get out more
