Hardly Malware as it was put in place by the carriers for very specific reasons.
Anyway, if you know anything about iPhones you'll know that IQAgent (Carrier IQ package) runs on them too depending which country you are in.

If you say it's not a problem then I'm sure it's not.
But what about this one from Today http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/11..._security_bug/

And where are all the people who care so much about Mobile Security they pipe up every time someone leaves an iPhone unlocked, where's your valued advice.

And remember folks, people bought Android for the supposed freedom, you were sold on a function that could only lead to the trouble you're suffering now.
Anyone who thinks there's no malware on mobile devices is an idiot, but have a think about who's looking after you and how much do they charge.

Well lets hope it doesn't do the only thing people didn't know it was doing on Android.

Malware will always affect iOS differently to Android. Apple as you put it 'Closed' the stable door before the horse bolted. Google will tell you where to buy your stable door and will take a percentage.

Just to clear up a few things, Carrier IQ is still on some Apple devices, Apple got rid of it on most devices with iOS 5, but not all. They do plan to remove it completely though. And Apple insist no personal data is transferred and all data is encrypted.
As for Android, it has nothing to do with Android. The carriers have added the software, it is not bundled as part of the AOSP, like it is with iOS. The software is not shipped on any of the Nexus phones. As Android is open source, the carriers add it in after.
I'm sure it won't be long before companies make the decision to remove it, now it is more publicly known.
It is not present on Windows phones.

Lets face facts both IOS and Android have flaws, security leaks, malware and more will be continued to be found in both.
Each has their weakness and strengths and blind followers to both.
End of.

Would you please put a stop to your pathetic attempts to stop a perfectly good, immature, *****-waving argument over the pros and cons of two of the most important things this planet has to offer

Hardly the end of and hardly the same for all operating systems, this is just the beginning.
With PC's dying out the mobsters will need to get paid from somewhere and that somewhere will be your and your mothers Android phone. Get wise now, if no one's looking out for you then you'd better do something for yourself.

Don't understand this. It's software right? So various files get installed around the file system somewhere ready to start when the OS boots and/or various other things happen. I'm at rather a loss to figure out why Apple (or anyone else) can't just 'not install' the SW for their next update....

I doubt that, after all if it is a true Windows product it will have more holes than a fishing net and every time you go to use it you will get a notice telling you to update due to vunerabilities.
Windows makes iOS and Android look like Fort Knox in comparison.

I have a Symbian Nokia, it's a very good Camera. Not as good as the 4s but good. Chances of it being the target of a large scale attack, not very high.

Don't believe me then, very nice paper published this week stating the same and giving good reason. You stay stuck in the 90's if you wish, the rest of us will cut the chains.

I know our IT dept in the UK would love to get out of Windows usage, but unfortunately a lot of the programs we use are specific to the industry I work in and our network literally is world wide with IT centres in the USA, Sweden, Poland, Brazil, China, Japan, India and Australia to name but a few.

... There's an app on the market for checking if you have the Carrier IQ software lurking on your phone.
