Default flashing bios

I have an Acer aspire laptop that has developed a black screen, I'm pretty sure it needs a new bios and I have looked on the Acer website and mine is in a recall model although it says nothing about a black screen.

I have the new bios sitting on my laptop but the Acer laptop only powers to a black screen and the lit power button. How do I get the usb to boot the new bios?

I have saw lots of help for the Acer aspire one but nothing on a proper Acer laptop.

Does the screen show anything at all from power up?

If it doesn't, then I would think your backlight has gone. Either the tube or the inverter.

Flashing the bios is free to try, so connecting up an external monitor to the laptop and use that?

Is there any hard disk activity when you switch it on? As mentioned, try hooking up to an external monitor .....

heard of a few recently where the backlight has gone. If you can connect to another screen (hdmi) then see what happens then. A bios update wont fix the screen though, in fact you never need to update the bios if the machine is working okay (if you got different memory then maybe but anything unchanged then no reason to change)

My laptop is actually on a recall from Acer due to a faulty bios but that was over a year ago. The laptop shows nothing thru the hdmi cable but I have yet to try another port.

I have also heard its possible ram issue but I have no small drivers to remove the panels and check

Want to borrow some small screwdrivers Steve, I could put some in the car tomorrow, as I should have something to pick up for you tomorrow.
