Final nail in Flash's coffin
Hi,
Is this the final nail in the coffin of Flash? Microsoft to drop Flash support in Metro OS in favour of HTML5.
http://iphone.appleinsider.com/articles/11/09/15/microsoft_to_jettison_adobe_flash_with_plug_in_fre e_browsing_in_windows_8_metro_ie10.html
I know Metro is a little way off yet but this can only be good news for the mobile browsing experience.

Flash is still the main player, as in, right now. If you use a decent browser, most people will never know or care when a newer, better technology comes along.
It is only good news to the mobile browsing experience because you most likely have an iphone and the most of the internet is of no use to you.
Who cares about tomorrows technology, as a consumer and that is why Apple are out of date.

Main player in what exactly? Being an unnecessary burden on your browsing experience, Advertising and Digital Rights Management maybe, but other than that it's outdated and not needed.
Microsoft are dropping Flash as well, so who does that leave?
Try turning it off, see if you miss it, I don't miss the adverts and pretty much every site I visit offers me an alternative. This is not on iOS by the way, I run a plug in that only fires up Flash when I want it to run rather than when someone wants me to buy viagra.

It is also irrelevant whether I use an iPhone or not, flash on any mobile device is very poor, and I would hardly say that most of the internet is of no use to me. Like I say, I can't remember the last time I needed it.
As for Apple being out of date, that is such a strange thing to say. Nearly 70% of the tablet Market worldwide, the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world with the biggest Market share - don't forget the Android figures are spread accross at least 4 other manufacturers. If that is out of date, then best of luck to them.

Most of the people who moan that Apple dropped flash also run Ad Blockers, whine about DRM, laugh at Apple being 'proprietary' and complain about breaches of security and privacy... but Flash is worth defending to the hilt.
