I will say in Win 7 the login screen and control panel certainly need sorting out. XP login screen was better

These things aside Win 7 is awesome........and I'm sure Win 8 will be as well

i imagine you'll be able to 'switch off' some of these things, but you can't in office, so i'm sceptical.

In office 2010 you can minimise that bar and this looks the same, sure most of the things on it would be available by right click anyway!

the right click thing is what MS are trying to combat, by sticking the ribbon interface in IE for windows 8.

they maintain that users go for the right-click route, so they're going to stick controls to cover '84% of common use controls' in a ribbon that takes 10%+ space of your browser window.

chrome seems to manage

The images shown of Windows 8 Explorer remind me of the mess that is Windows Mail.

To think that I found Outlook Express for home use really good, but Windows Mail is an abortion of a program. But you can't get Outlook Express for Windows 7.

Oh dear. Must admit I find it ridiculous how much of the page it takes up in 2010, especially on my work laptop with vertical res of 768. Find I minimise it most of the time but that gets annoying too!
