Wink

Sorry guys - I was given mis-information by our Unix team. Turns out we need to remote shell from Unix to NT (not rexec as I was told before). I've installed the rshsvr.exe service from the NT resource kit onto my PC using the service install wizard (also in the resource kit). Is this right? I can't actually find any set-up instructions for this rshsvr utility. All I can really find that looks any use is Microsoft knowledge base article Q158320 which makes reference to .Rhosts and Hosts.equiv files. However, I just cannot get a handle on what's going on. Any ideas where to proceed from here and have I done it right so far?

Thanks for your help! There's a virtual beer in it for guy who sorts it.

Never mind a virtual beer, it's a virtual slap you need

Half the time Unix admins don't know what day it is, well the one's here don't.

Simon,

Have a read through this http://www.samag.com/documents/s=120...705d/9705d.htm

It's got some examples of the rhosts file.

Does that mean you don't know what to do?

Couldn't possible comment

Michael,

Probably. I've got to do NT, Novell and Unix here so I don't know what day, month or year it is
