I have a value in excel A1 £100

and i need to take three other cells away from the value of A1

A2 £20
A3 £40
A4 £50

this should give a negative value of -£10

however excel refuses to allow the formula..

Any ideas?

Its vital it shows a negative balance

try =SUM(A1)-SUM(A2:A4)
