Default New Wetsuit

Bit random but my new 5mm Winter wetsuit just arrived (last one ripped after 3 years hard labour) - absolutely cracking suit and the best by far - Xcel Infiniti 5mm X Zip.

Magicseaweed Surf Shop :: Xcel 5mm Infiniti X-Zip

Will mostly be surfing this weekend!

Sorry to bore most of you but surely it's better than iron talk?!

I'm in all year whenever there's surf. See, I'm even a surf bore.

Recent pic in the Summer version of what I just got delivered:

My g/f has an Xcel summersuit. She loves the zip front but flushes through a fair bit but she thinks it might be a tad big for her.

Where do you surf?

Live near Truro so usually Porthtowan or Gwithian area but grew up around Polxzeath so know the entire N Coast of Cornwall pretty well. And went to uni in Swansea - which happens to have lots of surf!

Her suit must be a big big - you shouldn't really get any flushing with a front zip, even a Summer one.

Do you surf too? Where do you tend to go?

Michaelstow, just outside of Camelford. Beth's been surfing since she was knee high. Cant see the attraction myself. Too cold and wet for my liking, lol.

dpb - just marketing speak - basically a front horizontal mini zip. Putting it on is a bit like reverse giving birth - takes a bit of getting used to but I've been out in big (double overhead) waves and come out with a dry rash vest in my old one! Considered by pretty much every surfer who knows his/her stuff to be the best wetsuit you can get.

Mines in the link in the first post - you can just about see the zip in the pic.

Mines an Xcel infinity 3.2, it says size 6. But im not sure what that converts too? its about 3 years old now, but i will be gettin a newer, smaller one, hopefully to replace my gul winter suit.

I love the flexabilty the "x-Zip" gives you.
I also have an thermal rashie, and a shortie for those warm summer days (?)

Lots my boots though, so havent been in for a while, need to get back on it!

Beth - that spooked me out (thought it was still your other half)!

They are fine wetsuits - the Summer version zip is a bit of a pain (I'm wearing one in the pic above) - having to get the zip done up takes some practise but just about cracked it now. Winter version is easier.

Xcel boots are also the best. Waves not looking great for the weekend :-(

sorry dude, didnt mean to spin you out.

Would love to get an xcel winter suit, been looking at boots too, mine were only cheapies i got whilst i was working at a surf shop a few summers ago.

took a while to get used to the zip, looking like an idiot trying to pull it over my head at the waters egde. Guy in the shop i bought itfrom gave me some pointers, now i wouldnt go back to a normal zip.
One down side to being a girl sufer, is my nails tend to rip into the suit when putting it on

Is that a Bunty board your riding in the pic above? Cant quite make it out?

Beth

Beth - it is indeed. I've known Graeme (Bunt) since I was 14. That's a 6'2" - I also have a very low volume 6'3" for taking abroad.

Water really has got chilly now!

You a Bunty fan (the boards, not the girls mag)?!

Graeme is a legend, got my first board from him, when i was tiny, that he made for his son, with the marshmellow man from ghostbuters airbrushed on.

Got a custom 6'0" fish made by him, and i love it! Wouldnt go to another shaper.

Is it boots and gloves time? Havent been in for a while, as soon as i get some boots, ill be on it.

I bought an O'Neill Mutant this year & an O'Neill Mod for my wife - excellent suits. I can't believe how much more flexible they are than our old suits.
