I'd say yes, partly because the normal price for full OS updates is $129. Snow Leopard was $29 as it mainly consisted of under the hood changes and a few GUI changes, so Apple decided not to charge the full whack for it.

As for driver issues, assume you mean app compatibility issues, in which case, it depends. Google for "Lion compatibility list" or go to the websites for the apps you have and see if there is a Lion compatibility statement.
Anything that uses Rosetta won't work as that has been removed from Lion, about time too. Intel iMacs came out in 2006, so there is no real reason to still be running PowerPC based apps.

I'm going to purchase Lion, but not sure if I'm going to install it right away. Sounds silly I know, but I'm thinking of holding off until 10.7.1, or until I've researched enough to make sure the apps I rely on are not going to break.

Got to say its a nice OS - few minor irritations like it defaults to make your mouse button scroll the way of the page (opposite to how 99% of users will have it previously) etc.

As an advanced Mac user not too sure about the convergence of IoS and OSX with features like the Launchpad - completely pointless really, especially as it pulls out lots of obtuse apps which are not in your normal apps menu etc.

I'm not moving up to Lion yet. Still on 10.6.7.

There were all sorts of reports of audio interfaces etc not working after the "upgrade".

I use Logic professionally, so can't be without it. 10.7.1 will be my next look.

I actually wonder how Apple will manage to allow a concurrent download of Lion, at 4GB+, by 00,000s of people?

are we all going to be seeding each other under the hood in the world's largest secret torrent download?
