Just rooted my HTC Desire
A few months ago i was reading about how to root my HTC desire. Too much bother so i left it alone. decided to have a look again last night and UNREVOKED method seemed to be pretty painless (no gold cards, no linux commands etc). All seemed to go smoothly and phone is now rooted.
downloaded ROM Manager from Andriod market, and this does your Nandroid backup and a wipe before installing a new ROM. it will even download updated roms and install them. tried a couple of different roms, the new cyanogen v7 with gingerbread , piraterum. have to say i wasnt impressed.
how can i get the new roms to keep all my applications intact. What else can i do with a rooted phone. Any advice from other "rooted" android owners much appreciated.
Thanks

The thread title would sound quite wrong to an Aussie, sounds like you are getting it on with your phone, e.g. "I'd really like to root that Sheila"

note to self. Do not try to change ROM without a wireless connection. been sat on the cyanogen 7 splash screen for the past 3 hours. no sign of a reboot. any ideas anyone? dont want to pull the battery in case i brick the phone.

Download a titanium apk on your pc and then keep it on your phones sd card, can install it then after a flash and go from there.
What model of Desire is it, normal, S, HD?
I'm using LeeDroid 2.3.4 on my DHD, it uses Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread and keeps HTC Sense which I like. No overclocking kernels are available for this ROM yet though. So if you want to overclock then use a 2.2 based ROM. Not all custom stuff is on the ROM manager so to find some others to try, and read peoples responses to them, go here:

That's if it's an HD, if not go to the relevent area of the forum for your phone.
