GR has learned from multiple trusted sources that Research In Motion is planning to bring its beloved BlackBerry Messenger app and service to Android, and eventually to iOS as well

Right now, we have heard that Android is definitely a go. But again, we’re not sure on timing, though our sources are confident that it will launch some time this year. RIM chose Android first because of the fact that it could develop and integrate something like this much easier with an open platform, but the plan is to build and deploy an iOS version at some point as well.
Slightly different slant when you read the article though.

Apart from push email, the tightest mobile security ever and the ability for company's and organisations to control phones for their own security measures.

Oh and not to mention a full real qwerty keypad.

Push email, everyone does that... for free! Corporate controls are available for the iPhone... for free! And every phone has a full Querty keyboard, or do you mean a plasticky tiny button keyboard that's a bit ****.

Will be interesting to see how that's rolled out. Currently PIN based, so something would have to change.
Good luck to RIM if they are, game changing IMO.

You don't have to try to be a smart **** about it I thought you was referring to the gmail app which I'm sure you were as my battery doesn't suffer from push compared to checking every 30mins

Whatsapp is doing well? Is it? Personally I find it to be a pile of junk
Still curious as to how it will work. Rumours are it will be a different version of the BBM currently used. There was another app being used on berry's a few months back that was close to x-platform, but they banned it haha.

Either way, great if it happens, who cares if it doesn't lol. What iPhone user in their right mind wants to communicate with blackberry users anyway?

I wasn't trying to be a smart ****, I actually thought you were. I genuinely meant application in the manner defined, the trouble is you and your **** buddy see the three letters a p and p run together anywhere and immediately get a semi whereas what you need to do is get is a life

There is life outside of Apple Geekworld you know? The term application was used for software programs long before the 'Apple' of your (Jap's) eye was even the slightest little embryonic idea in the Apple dev team's mind!

Hope that clears things up

I have a BB through work.

The keyboard is a bloody joke. You have to have the fingers of small child to use it.

what'sapp is one of the most downloaded apps that people have on there phones as there first app at carphone, i know i have to do it everyday.

hopefully there can be a way to get a version of bbm on android, windows and ios as the only reason the blackberry has become so popular is because of it, yet the phones are horrendous and very unreliable. we try to explain to the customers to go with htc's or iphones now because we were fed up with people coming back with there blackberrys because they kept getting software problems or failing completely within 6 months of getting them.
