Question Dell PC won't boot past BIOS! help!

I've got a 2 year old Dell Inspirion PC which I turned on earlier, and it comes up with the "DELL" bios screen, then that screen goes blank then there's a beep and it repeats the cycle!

Don't see a memory count (can't remember if you did before or not), but I've tried re-seating all the memory, but no change, Can hear the HD spinning up, but that could be dead I guess.

Anyone got any ideas?!!

Google the beeps for info... check the HDD cables are securely fitted both ends.

BUT, I would reset the BIOS, usually done with a jumper, see manual. Or remove the battery and leave for 24 hours. Then unplug any graphics cards, etc.

Once you have a bare PC + CPU, it should beep that it's memory is missing. So put it back in !

IF this stops the beeps, but nothing happens your memory is dead.

Then turn off the power and refit the graphics card, other bits one at a time.

Hopefully you'll find what is causing the problems.

one of my dell boxes does this if I have anything in the front USB port when it is booting. Only way I can find to work around it is to disable the ports or unplug the device.

Do a memtest on it, u will need to create a memtest boot cd/floppy on another pc though.
