Strip the keyboard down and give it a clean, chances are more than one key would have been goosed.

Try putting it in a sealed bag with some dried rice. Saw some where the rice absorbed the moisture from the item don`t know how long for though worth a try a few days.

Just pop the "S" key off.
They just have a little plastic hinge, and a rubber blob. Take it out, clean, and try again.

The liquid is taking effect. I suggest not using it for a while, and remove battery. Try and dry it out.

Youll find 98% of laptops have replaceable keyboards. Chances are connections have burnt out on the board. If your not too computer savvy, just take it to a fairly respectable computer shop. Theyll charge you peanuts to replace it, might try and sting you on the keyboard replacement so see if its cheaper for you to buy the keys off ebay or something. If your near me, ill do it for nowt . Im a qualified techy. Good luck

Try a USB keyboard. If that works fine, then I would suggest the mainboard is ok, which reinforces the suggestion to give (or get) the keyboard a good clean out.

Just a borked keyboard - I replaced mine.
Depending which machine it is -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Original-A...item415297c106

£35

or if it's a unibody,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MACBOOK-PRO-17...item3a62186c2b

It's about £38....

ish....

10 minute job to fix.

High repair bills are what immediately come to mind with the Mac (like owning an Alfa!), but obviously not in this case!

Its really difficult to know whether to claim but my insurance has gone up stupidly high recently that I was thinking about stopping accidental damage next month anyway so may as well claim on that and the above comment is so true. I can't use it at all now as more keys have gone and I can't log in (using my phone now).
I don't think its serious as its just the keys that have stopped working but if the can't fix it I get a new one which is alright.

Ok, I had to claim in the end. The laptop was considered a right off so my insurance company has sent through a brand new Macbook today. It is the base model, where my one that was ruined was 2 models up but 3 years old. The new one is slightly better spec so very pleased.

Did you get your hard drive out of it? The data is likely to be recoverable.

Surely a replacemetn keyboard would have been far simply and cheaper in the long run now that you have gone through insurance?

Not if it got through to the logic board , I just got my MacBook pro repaired under warranty for a faulty Bluetooth. £600 repair for logic board and glossy screen.

It was more than a keyboard. The insurance company tried to repair it as it would have been a lot cheaper for them. It wasnt repairable which is why I got a new one. £867 worth of laptop is worth claiming for.

I did get the hard drive out of it but I had to pay for it as it was now Nationwides but it meant that I kept everything including Word, Excel applications etc, not just photos and videos.
