Default Rubbish broadband Signal in consevatory trying to connect x box 360

We have just had a conservatory / extension build on the back of our dining room. The router is approx 10m away and all the doors to the dining room are left open. I tried to conect a xbox 360 last night with the wireless adaptor and the signal was rubbish and it would not connect.

I don't understand this as I can get a signal in my office which is on the 3rd floor of my house.

Any ideas ? I have a black sky sagem router.

Thanks

Sunspots.

Either too many, or not enough.

Use homeplugs and run a wired connection over your eletrical wiring. Works a treat.

I've found the direction of the antenna on the wireless adapter makes a real difference when streaming movies to the xbox. If you point it straight up it's not great. I push it back about 30 degrees and then tilt it sideways about 30 degrees.

When my Dad complains that the movies aren't playing very well, I always find someone has knocked the antenna.

Worth a try.

Is it line of sight between router and xbox ? If not is there any serious metalwork between the two points or around the xbox?

Don't forget too many humans around can absorb / degrade the signal.

Did they use aluminium-iron oxide paint anywhere in the construction - that can block wifi also.

Heard on the news this morning that Christmas tree lights(not sure if flashing or not ) can effect the signal too by 25% !

Second that - I use Poweline to my office and PS3 its simple plug and play and more stable even than an N network

If you are going to use it for online gaming Poweline is the way to go Belkin have a 1000mbps product coming out soon it's great!

What router are you using? Please tell me it's not a BT one?

i would suspect interference from a neighbouring wifi router, try changing channel if your router allows.
