Default Corp XP .. need to have reg keys added at startup

Each time my PC boots it locks down again.. I have the rights to access regedit and unlock it again, but adding the keys it starting to annoy me now ..

I can't work out how to have them run, maybe in a batch ? any ideas?

Also, the stardard theme is the horrible silver one, do you know of a way to set the theme to classic or Green XP using a single call ?

the desktop theme will be just a set of registry entries, can't you add them to your filename.reg

Which presumably means you're getting Group Policies applied that set the config.

You need to be careful about unlocking a machine that is set by corp standards....

Your idea to use a .reg file is the easiest way, but I just thought I'd warn you.

if you want to block GPO's, deny access (to the domain) to the GPT.ini file

Nothing to warn me about, I have access to regedit because I need an unlocked machine, only the lovely people that control the rights aren't all that bright .. so rather than argue with them .. I'm doing it myself ..

Can anyone help me ?

So far I have an icon that applies the update reg keys and then opens the theme window

depends how locked down your machine is. Create a file called theme.vbs and paste the following lines of code into the file. Change the words Luna.theme to whatever theme name you want to use - windows XP themes are on the following path by default c:/windows/Resources/Themes you can only use themes that already exists as .theme files.

Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

WshShell.Run "rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL %SystemRoot%\system32\desk.cpl desk,@Themes /Action:OpenTheme /file:""C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Luna.theme"""

' change this value to adjust the waiting time
WScript.Sleep 2000

WshShell.AppActivate("Desktop Properties")

WshShell.Sendkeys "%FC"

WshShell.Sendkeys "{F4}"
WshShell.Sendkeys "{Tab}"
wshShell.Sendkeys "{Tab}"
wshShell.Sendkeys "{Enter}"

To run this file create a batch file and place the following in the batch file.

cscript exe c:/theme.vbs (if that is the path you saved the file to)

I should point out this requires windows scripting host to be installed as part of the build.

speak to them nicely - get them to move your accounts (comp and user) into the default User and computer containers - no policies are applied here.

Easiest solution and no matter how thick they are, they can't mess that up.
