The best thing to do if you know the address you want is to just go and buy it to make sure no-one else does. Go to http://www.123-reg.co.uk, and use the domain search to check it is available. If it is, just go ahead and buy it directly from that site (as it's one of the cheapest around). What I would say though is go for a .co.uk domain name rather than a .com one as it is much cheaper and makes it easier to get better rankings locally for you.
I run my own business doing all the design, hosting and e-commerce stuff so I could do the lot for you and make sure I beat your best quote, drop me a PM if interested.

Yeah, you want one that isn't taken and go for the .co.uk which is just over £6 for the 2 years once you get VAT on top. Another little tip is to make sure that you use some decent keywords in the url as every little bit helps (i.e. if you are going to be targetting people typing in subaru impreza to find you, something along the lines of subaruimpreza.co.uk tends to get better results than a-man-with-a-van.co.uk).
