I may be wrong and If I am then you are allowed to call me names

It looks like there has been a slight update to this and my sources (both red and brown) say that is it does not get released today, you will have to wait until friday

i was a bit worried about memory problems with iOS4 on ipad, but I have seen a review where they tested residual wired/unwired/etc memory after running and closing about 15 apps (against 3.2.2)
the result? iOS4.2 was using less memory after all that activity
now i'm worried some of my apps won't work in 4.2

Tomorrow sounds right. Gm was seeded last week, and it is usually a week or so before it goes final. Looks good on iPad. Cannot comment on 3G as not upgraded one yet, meant to improve speed a bit more though

I was in the Apple store today and very nearly walked out with an Apple TV, just such a neat piece of kit. Going to get a better look at Airplay before I invest. At times like right now, in a hotel with only a couple of channels and very pricy films it could pay for itself.
Airplay is obviously the star feature or 'Game Changer' you could say, what else is coming for us lowly iPhone users?

Oh one big downer for 4.2 for iPad, the rotation lock switch is now a mute button, rot lock now handled in software (double tap home, swipe leftto right until you see the iPod controls and it's there, fairly sure they have also put brightness controls there too)
As for what is new for iPhone users, hmm, not sure air play seems to be the main thing I think. Basically it is meant to be a unified release, finally putting iPad feature set on par with the iPhone

*cough*
I'd say the sizes would be about...
iPad = 575MB
iPhone 4 = 654MB
iPhone 3GS = 421MB
iPhone 3 = 339MB
iPod Touch 4G = 639MB
iPod Touch 3G = 409MB
iPod Touch 2G = 364MB
*cough* *you never saw me - nudge, nudge, wink, wink*
Don't forget this is akin to a combination release for OS X, ie; it's a full installer, not just the update, ala the delta OS X installers. The reason is that you use the same software / procedure to upgrade your device as you do to perform a factory restore on it, so it needs the full thing.

So things have changed (no surprise there )
10.6.5 and itunes 10.1 to appear sometime in the next 24 hours.
However when ios 4.2 appears it will be lacking the airprint facility so for all those of you who wanted to print wirelessly from your ipod touch, iphone or ipad...not happening

This could possibly explain why they have seeded 10.6.6 before 10.6.5 is even out the door. Usually this type of cancellation is because Steve has said it's not ready, and he really doesn't like releasing things that aren't close to perfect (we'll ignore antenna gate and windows versions of iTunes for the moment )
It is VERY late in the day to pull it, but from what I'm reading it's not completely gone. It sounds as though printers directly connected to a machine, that are "shared" cannot be printed too but wi-fi enabled printers might well support printing, I see mention of HP printers in there.

However it is suitable for the 3G, in fact there are a few videos floating about of the performance on older iphone models
Markus has even listed the download size, the man knows

Yup it is there for 3G, I know as I've installed it on one Seems a bit quicker, but I'm only doing very limited usage with it, certainly not normal end-user use, so cannot fully comment.
In addition, when it comes to Air Print, it seems it will now only work with, at present, two HP printers (I don't have the model numbers to hand) that have in-built Air Print support. I'd presume that other manufactures will add Air Print support post 4.2 / 10.6.5 release, in the same way people will add Air Play support.

Just go to iTunes and it will prompt you to install. If it doesn't, then you can force iTunes to update by Help/Check Updates and on the iPhone/iPad there is a button when you plug it in to check for updates.
(Not that it works yet, normally it is mid-afternoon UK time)

It appears that a serious issue with wi-fi on the GM seed was found, and this is the cause of the delay. Apple has just seeded an updated GM seed for iPad, build 8C134b, which is alleged to address this issue. I'd factor at least another week, so I'd go with November 24th as a release date for iOS 4.2
